A new skills bootcamp aimed at fast-tracking careers in construction has officially launched at the Skanska Costain STRABAG (SCS) joint venture Euston site.
Designed to make local residents 'job ready' in just two weeks, the intensive training programme provides all the necessary skills and accreditation to start work as a plant machinery operator. The course is completely free for Camden residents aged 19 and over who are currently unemployed or seeking a career change, offering a pathway into the growing construction sector.
The initiative is a partnership between HS2, SCS JV, Flannery Plant Hire, Camden Council, and the Euston Partnership. Funding for the programme, which runs until March 2025, has been secured by Flannery Plant Hire from the Department for Education.
Located on Hampstead Road, in an area set for HS2 railway construction, the bootcamp combines:
• Hands-on training with construction machinery, including rollers, dump trucks, and excavators
• Classroom-based learning at the nearby Euston Skills Centre
• Accreditation through the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS)
At the end of the two-week programme, successful participants will receive a CPCS card and be offered a guaranteed job interview for a plant operator role.
With an estimated 30 participants set to benefit, the programme will help address local skills shortages, create employment opportunities, and contribute to a lasting skills legacy for Camden's workforce.
