Equans has been appointed by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils to carry out crucial decarbonisation work across the councils' housing stock, using funding secured through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF).

The councils used the South East Consortium's Zero Carbon Framework to support their SHDF Wave 2 application. This process led to Equans' selection and a successful bid securing £1.6 million for the initiative. With the councils matching this amount, the total funding for the programme has been doubled.

Under the contract, Equans will implement major retrofit measures on 100 social housing properties, including the installation of solar panels, ventilation upgrades, and external wall insulation. These improvements aim to enhance energy efficiency, make homes warmer, and reduce energy bills for tenants.
