Manchester City Council's housing company, This City, has launched a public consultation on plans to create new low-carbon homes in the city centre's Northern Quarter.
The proposed development on Postal Street marks the fourth site brought forward by This City, following consultations on projects in Monsall and Longsight, and the first development, No1 Ancoats Green, which is set for completion later this year.
The Postal Street project aims to transform brownfield land into 126 eco-friendly rental homes, comprising 70 one-bedroom and 56 two-bedroom units. At least 20% of the homes will be offered at Manchester Living Rent, making them more affordable for local residents.
In addition to housing, the development includes ground-floor commercial space, designed to enhance the vibrancy and economic activity of the surrounding area.
The consultation, which begins today (Monday, 13 January 2025), invites feedback from residents and businesses until 2 February 2025.
