The Leisure Centre Keighley is set to close temporarily for essential maintenance, starting on Saturday, 1 February 2025.
The centre will reopen in early summer following significant upgrades.
Originally opened in the 1980s, the facility will undergo a complete electrical re-wiring as part of the planned work. Additional improvements, part-funded by the Government's Swimming Pool Support Fund, will include the installation of new solar panels, a new swimming pool filtration system, and other energy-saving measures. The centre's main slide will also be repaired and brought back into operation.
The total cost of the upgrades is estimated at £900,000, with almost £460,000 provided by government funding. These changes are expected to reduce the long-term operating costs of The Leisure Centre.
During the closure, the pool, gym, and regular sports classes will not be available. However, a limited number of fitness classes will continue at the nearby Victoria Hall. For other activities, residents can visit Shipley Pool or Thornton Recreation Centre. ClubActive members can either continue their memberships at alternative ClubActive sites, freeze their payments, or request a refund.
