Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey have announced that reserved matters approval has been secured for the first primary school within the Valley Park development in Didcot, marking a major milestone in the 4,254-home project.
The new educational facility, located in the northern phase of Valley Park, will feature a three-form entry primary school, a nursery, and community-use spaces. Designed with sustainability and community integration in mind, the school will serve as a cornerstone of the development, reflecting a commitment to providing high-quality infrastructure for the growing community.
Key Features of the New School:
• Energy Efficiency: The building will operate as net-zero carbon from handover, utilising sustainable technologies such as solar panels and air-source heat pumps. This aligns with Oxfordshire County Council’s Climate Emergency Framework.
• Spacious Layout: The 3.01-hectare site will include sports pitches, outdoor play areas, and parking for staff and visitors.
• Natural Integration: Features such as native hedgerows, habitat zones, and a forest school will enhance biodiversity and offer unique educational opportunities.
• Accessibility: Safe pedestrian and cycle routes, along with connections to green infrastructure, ensure easy access for students and the wider community.
Located adjacent to Common Park and the Local Centre, the school's design promotes accessibility and sustainability.
