Scholes Playground Reopens After Refurbishment

A playground in Scholes, East Leeds, has reopened following a refurbishment, part-funded by Emmerdale's Stakeholder Fund.

The playground, which serves as a key recreational space for local families, had not been updated in over 15 years, and the upgrades, completed on December 1, were welcomed by the community.

The recent refurbishment brings a host of improvements to the playground, including new surfacing, a multi-unit play structure featuring climbing areas and a slide, as well as a spinner and a seesaw. These upgrades are designed to make the playground safer and more enjoyable for children, while also enhancing its appeal as a gathering space for families in the village.

The refurbishment was part-funded by Emmerdale's Stakeholder Fund, which was established when the popular TV show agreed to film in the Harewood ward. The funding is specifically connected to the planning permissions granted for the Emmerdale film set on the Harewood House Estate. Additional funding came from Leeds City Council, Barwick and Scholes Parish Council, and local ward members.
