Building surveying and project management firm PMP has launched a graduate apprenticeship scheme at its Manchester office, aiming to address the talent shortage in the construction industry.

The Manchester programme follows the success of similar initiatives at PMP’s offices in Glasgow and Bristol. The first participant, Ben Cookson, recently joined the firm’s 10-strong North West team as an assistant building surveyor. Cookson will balance his role at PMP's King Street office with his studies for a BSc in Building Surveying at the University of Salford.

The apprenticeship is part of PMP’s broader strategy to attract young talent to the construction sector by offering robust learning and development opportunities across all career levels.

PMP has also seen success with its graduate recruitment programme this year, bringing in new talent like Ben Spratt and Dan Hill. Furthermore, the firm celebrated a 100% pass rate in the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC), with team members Daniel Lawson, Christopher Birchall, and Lewis Simms achieving chartered surveyor status.

By expanding its investment in young professionals, PMP reinforces its commitment to addressing industry challenges and fostering the next generation of building surveyors.
