The Rushbond Group has been granted planning permission to transform the iconic Bank House office building in Leeds city centre, formerly the regional headquarters of the Bank of England.
Known for its expertise in revitalizsng significant properties across Yorkshire, Rushbond will embark on a major refurbishment of the 90,000 sq. ft. building, creating Grade A office space and a range of modern amenities.
Transforming a Leeds Icon
The redevelopment will include an internal extension and the addition of a multi-level central atrium, designed to turn Bank House into a sustainable, energy-efficient, and accessible workspace. Key features of the project include:
• Repurposing the former bank vaults into a lower-ground auditorium and ground-floor meeting suites.
• A full restoration of the building's striking exterior, clad in Cornish granite.
• A new rooftop business lounge and terrace offering panoramic views of the city.
The redevelopment aligns with growing demand for premium office space in Leeds city centre. Rushbond believes the project will attract both regional tenants and inward investment, offering businesses a unique blend of heritage and contemporary design in a prime location.
Work on Bank House is set to begin in early 2026, once the building is vacated, with completion expected by mid-2027. The redevelopment represents Rushbond's continued commitment to blending heritage preservation with innovative, high-quality design.
