Kier has announced a partnership with Sunbelt Rentals, naming the company as its official supplier of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel.
The move marks a significant step in Kier's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance sustainability across its operations.
Over the next year, Kier plans to use approximately 3 million litres of HVO fuel, replacing traditional diesel in its fleet vehicles and equipment. This transition is expected to cut the company’s Scope 1 carbon emissions by more than 6,000 tonnes and contribute to improved air quality in the areas where it operates.
HVO fuel, derived from waste feedstocks, offers substantial environmental benefits when sustainably produced, including up to a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional diesel.
The partnership aligns with Kier's broader commitment to achieving ambitious carbon reduction targets and adopting sustainable practices across its business.
