Construction firm GRAHAM has completed the refurbishment and M&E installations of the Interventional Radiology Department at Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) which carries out life-saving Mechanical Thrombectomy procedures.

The works for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which were procured through the ProCure22 (P22) framework, were split into four individual phases to ensure that full operational capacity was maintained throughout the life of the project.

As part of the necessary M&E upgrades, GRAHAM constructed a two-storey, steel frame plantroom directly on top of the live building to house three new dedicated air handling units.

GRAHAM worked collaboratively with medical specialists, Siemens Healthineers, to support with the preparation for installing the two brand new biplanes, and Raybloc, for installing all radiation protection.

Over £1m of electrical and mechanical infrastructure upgrades were also carried out to help improve general services throughout the wider hospital.
