Sempra Homes has announced funding approval for a new affordable housing project at Bowers Close on London Road, Pitsea.
The development will deliver 31 high-quality homes, offering a mix of rental and shared ownership properties designed to address local housing needs.
The project has received £436,000 from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund 2, administered through the One Public Estate Programme (OPE). The funding will support essential infrastructure works at the site. Additionally, £948,000 from Homes England’s Affordable Housing Programme has been allocated for the construction of shared ownership homes, which will complement the rental properties included in the scheme.
The development will feature a range of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes that exceed space standards and include private amenities and open spaces. The shared ownership properties will prioritise veterans, key workers, and first-time buyers living in the borough, providing a valuable opportunity for these groups to enter the housing market.
Rental homes will be allocated in accordance with the Council's Housing Allocation Policy, ensuring the development serves those most in need.
