Construction has begun on a new learning and workspace project in Runcorn’s historic Camden Buildings on High Street, led by Warden on behalf of Halton Borough Council and community learning organisation Power in Partnership.

The development aims to provide a modern, multi-functional facility that fosters education, skill-building, and community engagement.

The refurbishment of No. 59 High Street involves replacing the building’s original timber structure with a steel frame to support a three-storey, winter garden-inspired space. This new area will serve as a lobby, breakout space, and small events venue, designed to offer a welcoming atmosphere for learners and community members alike.

The project also includes a two-storey extension at the neighbouring former post office site at No. 57. Connected to No. 59, this new build will feature an internet café, games area, and a learning kitchen, with access to a rear garden. A first-floor space is planned for group activities, providing flexible options for community use.

The £2 million initiative is part of Runcorn's larger £23.6 million Town Deal, which encompasses eight regeneration projects aimed at revitalising the town centre. This new learning and workspace will contribute to the town's broader goals of enhancing community resources and driving local economic growth.
