Work Complete On New Social Homes In Hayes

Construction News Image
Work has been completed on new social homes in Hayes.

Cllr Eddie Lavery, Hillingdon Council's Cabinet Member for Residents Services visited the site which offers a mix of one-to-three-bedroom properties and shared garden spaces.

Construction began in 2022 on the former day care and care home brownfield site which had been left unused for many years before being repurposed to meet housing needs.

The development, delivered in partnership with Neilcott Construction, is built in two blocks of 17, Balsam Court and Silverleaf Court.

The blocks are fitted with solar panels on the roof to help reduce energy costs, cycle storage, and a central car park which includes parking bays with electric vehicle charging points and the capability to increase them to meet future demand.

To prevent against flash flooding following heavy rainfall, large underground 'attenuation crates' have also been installed underneath the permeable tarmac surface of the car park to absorb surges of surface water.

Cllr Lavery said: "We have a proven track record of delivering high quality affordable homes for residents. The demand for housing continues to increase and we are actively working to address this, including repurposing unused land into much-needed housing.

"We are committed to helping residents live in safe and strong communities and these brand new energy efficient homes will not only provide safe and comfortable living spaces but also significantly reduce utility bills for residents."
