EDF has introduced the most affordable fixed-rate energy-only tariff among major providers, offering savings of £68 compared to the upcoming Ofgem price cap.
Starting in October, the average energy bill is set to increase by 10%, from £1,568 to £1,717. However, EDF's 'Essentials Fixed One Year Sep25v2' tariff is priced at £1,649, coming in £68 below the October price cap. The company also offers a two-year fixed tariff, 'Sept26v2', priced at £1,669, making it the most competitive energy-only deal among leading suppliers.
These tariffs allow new and existing customers to fix under the upcoming cap until September 2025 and 2026 respectively, with EDF's price cap forecasting service predicting a further rise in the New Year. However, due to ongoing volatility in global wholesale prices, this current deal could be removed at any time.
Rich Hughes Director of Retail at EDF, said: "Energy prices had been decreasing, but we are all too aware that because of increases to the price cap, this will change shortly. We know customers will be concerned and we want to do all we can to help.
"Locking into the cheapest energy-only deal in the market protects them from future upcoming price rises."
The tariff is available to new and existing EDF customers and requires a smart meter or agree to have one installed.
