Vistry has completed contracts with O&H Properties on an 11.6-acre site in Great Haddon, Cambridgeshire, with the aim to develop an additional 178 new homes.
Vistry Group is joining forces with Citra Living, part of Lloyds Banking Group, to build 150 homes for private rental. The remaining 28 will be constructed by Vistry as section 106 affordable housing.
The project will transform land adjacent to Vistry's thriving Fletton Folly community, into much-needed housing with a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom family homes for the area.
Stephen Teagle, chief executive, Partnerships and Regeneration at Vistry, said: "Developing sites such as this one in Great Haddon with our partners is hugely important in helping to tackle the crippling shortage of affordable homes in the region and our North East Midlands team can’t wait to get building. This site is the first of a number of sites we have in the pipeline with Citra Living, reflecting our shared ambition to increase the supply of high-quality family rental accommodation by transforming sites like Great Haddon into great places to live."
The development will provide access to new schools, parks, water features and other community amenities all within convenient walking distance. Future residents will benefit from open fields and meadows with footpaths and cycleways right on their doorstep.
The site will also offer excellent transport connections by both train and car. Peterborough Station is just over five miles away, providing services to many destinations including London in under 50 minutes. For journeys by car, the A1 and other major road links are close by.
Vistry has secured Reserved Matters planning approval with a view to starting work shortly.
