Galliford Try Building North East and Yorkshire's Boho X development has scooped the British Council for Offices' (BCO) Innovation Award at its regional ceremony for the North East.
Boho X, spanning over 60,000 sq ft across seven storeys, offers Category 'A' office spaces and represents the newest phase of Middlesbrough's Boho district redevelopment. Created as an innovative flexible workspace, it caters to the expanding digital and creative community in the region.
The project was lauded by the awards, which serve to acknowledge best practice in sites across the UK and promote exemplary effort, for a number of innovative features, such as flexible workspaces, which were designed to support the needs of the expanding digital and creative cluster in the region. Also included in the design of Boho X were several sustainability measures, including roof-mounted PV (Photovoltaic) panels, a green 'living' roof and Air Source Heat Pumps.
Cliff Wheatley, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building North East and Yorkshire, said: "This is a great achievement for the team at BOHO and everyone at Building North East and Yorkshire. This award serves as proof of our commitment to innovation and good working relationships. Well done to everyone who made this possible."
Michael Canavan representing the client, Middlesbrough Council, stated: "We should all be extremely proud of the role we have played in supporting the regeneration of Middlesbrough."
All regional winners will go on to compete for the National Innovation Award and bid for the esteemed BCO 'Best of the Best' Award in the property sector, with winners to be announced at the Grosvenor House ceremony in London in October 2024.
