Equans Scoops New Housing Repairs Contract

Equans has scooped a new housing repairs contract by Birmingham City Council.

The new contract will see Equans continue to provide a planned and responsive repairs, maintenance and refurbishment services to more than 37,000 council-owned homes across the city until at least 2026.

In Birmingham last year, Equans completed over 150,000 responsive repairs, returned 1,700 empty properties to a lettable standard, carried out 40,000 gas repairs, installed over 1,000 new kitchens and bathrooms, and completed extensive modernisation works to thousands of homes.

Since its inception in 2016, the partnership has also resulted in thousands of homes across the city being made warmer and more energy efficient, while generating significant levels of social value in the community and creating over 30 new apprenticeships for local people.

Paul Bingham, Regional Operations Director at Equans UK & Ireland, said: "We're delighted that the council has chosen to enter into this new contract, providing the opportunity for us to build on our existing successful partnership. Our aim during the contract period is to work with the council to make further improvements, so that we can continue to provide a first-class service to their housing residents.

"The council has been clear in its commitment to investing in housing across the city, and we’re proud that we can support them in their aim to create warmer, safer and more energy efficient places that people are proud to call home."
