Network Rail engineers are to carry out essential track renewal work around Slough Station.

There will be an amended timetable in place between 27 to 28 April and 11 to 12 May. Over the early May bank holiday weekend, there will be a small reduction in services, with journeys taking longer to complete.

Alongside removing and replacing the old rails, the teams on site will also be installing new ballast – the stones that support the tracks – with over 4,000 tonnes expected to be laid and packed. Almost 800 metres of rail will be replaced.

Mark Parker, Network Rail’s project manager, said: "I'd like to thank passengers for their patience while we carry out this essential track renewal through Slough station over the next three weekends.

"While the majority of services will still run, there will be an amended timetable in place with trains leaving some stations at different times to usual, so please do check before travelling.

"The new track will mean that passengers can continue to experience a safe and reliable railway into the future."
