MKM Building Supplies (MKM) is to open its 127th and 128th branches this month in Cardiff and Shrewsbury.
MKM Cardiff 127th will open its doors to the trade and public on 08 April, creating 20 new jobs. The 128th branch, MKM Shrewsbury, will open shortly after on 15 April, creating 19 new jobs for the local area. Both will be led by experienced branch directors who have deep local knowledge.
MKM Cardiff will be led by Branch Directors Russ Lewis and Dan Love, both of whom are South Wales natives with decades of experience in the merchanting industry.
Mr Lewis commented on the opening, said: "I've lived in Cardiff for 48 years and started working on the trade counter of a local merchant at 16 years old. To be leading the first MKM in South Wales, building a best-in-class merchant for trade and retail customers in the community I love is a dream come true."
He added: "Our incredible team have over 150 years of collective experience, and the branch is set to offer unparalleled service. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a housing developer, tradesperson, builder, or weekend DIYer you'll get the same warm welcome. Dan and I are passionate about upholding MKM’s longstanding commitment to supporting local community projects and charities. Our main charity is City Hospice and we’ll be sponsoring their 5km dog walk, Wag This Way, in April. We’re also in discussions with several other groups we'll be sponsoring, advocating for, and helping. We want to be a central part of the community."
Similarly, the Shrewsbury branch will be under the guidance of Branch Director Patrick Chall, a local with extensive experience in the building merchant industry.
"I've lived in Shrewsbury for over 16 years now, the community is tight-knit, and I’m determined that the new MKM Shrewsbury branch will be an extension of that. I was asked what would stand us apart from other merchants, and without a doubt it’s going to be our customer service, expertise and local knowledge. The team we're putting in place are the best of the best - selected for their diversity of experience and knowledge. Everything we do will be aimed towards giving customers a great experience," Mr. Chall expressed.
The Shrewsbury branch has partnered with the Little Rascals Foundation and is in talks with local schools and sports clubs for future support.
Both branches have substantial covered warehouses and will supply tradespeople and the public with diverse stock and product offerings from industry-leading brands including Siniat, Kronospan, Ox, Superglass, Dakea, Birtley and Vandersanden bricks. They will also offer free delivery for all customers and aim to deliver next day for all trade accounts where possible. Both Shrewsbury and Cardiff will also have landscaping displays and house a stunning MKM kitchen and bathroom showroom, with state-of-the-art displays to inspire customers.
