Network Rail is to start improvement works on Cornton’s pedestrian level crossing.

Engineers will re-align the crossing (Cornton 2) from 11pm on Friday 9 February until 5.30am on Monday 12 February, with no access for pedestrians during that time.

New gates will be installed in a different position than currently is the case, with more secure fencing being put in place and both miniature stop lights being moved to the left-hand side of each gate.

Network Rail is working closely with local stakeholders and Stirling Council to minimise the duration of the closure.

Christopher Sharkey, Senior Programme Manager, Network Rail, said: "The planned work at Cornton pedestrian level crossing is essential to maintaining a safe and reliable railway in the area.

"While we appreciate that the short-term impact of this work is inconvenient, the long-term benefit is that it will minimise overall disruption for both passengers and pedestrians while helping us to deliver a safe, reliable and resilient railway.
