Kent County Council (KCC) has appointed Breheny Civil Engineering to begin working on the A20 Coldharbour Roundabout Improvement Scheme.

The project will see the roundabout enlarged to allow three lanes to go around the roundabout and additional lanes provided on the approaches. Traffic signals are to be completely removed with give way lines installed at the entry to the roundabout.

The scheme will cost £5 million and is being funded through the government’s Local Growth Fund and developer contributions.

KCC's Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Neil Baker said: "This is another prime example of where we are delivering infrastructure first.

"This project is expected to improve capacity of the Coldharbour Roundabout by 60% in the morning peak period and 40% during the evening, making for smoother journeys for local people and helping to keep Kent moving."

Work is due to commence on Monday 12 February and is expected to be completed by mid-December 2024.
