Gleeds has marked a major milestone for the Beorma Quarter development in Birmingham, with the signing of contracts to bring forward the centrepiece Beorma Tower by Kuwaiti developer Salhia Real Estate Company and Midgard Limited, construction arm of JRL Group.
Acting as project manager, cost manager and health and safety advisor on behalf of Salhia, Gleeds has been involved with the Beorma Quarter scheme since the completion of phase one in 2015. With build contracts for the next phase of works now formalised, construction works have commenced as of September 2023.
Located opposite Selfridges and the Bullring shopping centre, the Broadway Malyan designed 29-storey Beorma Tower will act as the southern gateway to the area of Digbeth. Once complete, it will comprise of approx. 152,000ft2 of commercial office space, as well as 124 residential apartments, retail and leisure areas.
Regional director for Gleeds, Matthew Darby, said: "I'm extremely proud of the role Gleeds has played in supporting Salhia to get this important project for Birmingham and the Midlands off the ground - the formal signing of contracts means construction works can now officially get underway on site. The fact that we are celebrating this milestone is both a testament to Salhia’s commitment to the city and to the collaborative approach adopted by Midgard, despite a challenging economic backdrop."
