Church Commissioners for England has announced a partnership with Duchy Homes to deliver a 3.7 hectare residential scheme in South Yorkshire.
The scheme will consist of 46 new homes as well as adding new pedestrian and cycle access. The Church Commissioners received planning permission for the site in 2021.
The homes will vary between two and five bedrooms with 20% of the properties acting as affordable housing.
The scheme will also create additional public open space that is easily accessible to both Darton's new and existing residents.
Located below Darton Lane, the development will act as a natural extension to the existing housing to the north and east. The development is situated nearby to local shops, pubs, medical services and a train station. It will also feature cycle and pedestrian links to the nearby Darton Primary School.
Commenting on the partnership, Joanna Loxton, Head of Strategic Land Investment at the Church Commissioners for England, said: “With a proven track record of delivering high quality sites in the region, Duchy Homes is extremely well placed to take forward our plans for our new Darton development.
"The site will fulfil Barnsley’s vision for new homes in the area while taking care to maintain its unique environmental landscape, including through the preservation of species-rich grassland."
