Work on the project will not complete until early September with temporary traffic lights expected to be added in August.

The project aims to make the Midland Main Line more sustainable with an electrified railway to accommodate greener trains.

Commenting on the plans, Jenny Blake, Senior Sponsor at Network Rail, said: "The electrification of the Midland Main Line is such an important investment for the East Midlands and it will ultimately lead to cleaner, greener and more reliable journeys for passengers.

"We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out this essential work."
