The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) Joint Assembly have published their findings from the 'Making Connections' public consultation.

The GCP is made up of councillors, business representatives and local academia. The consultation covered topics such as a sustainable travel zone, improved bus services and new walking and cycling infrastructure.

The consultation found that 58% of respondents were opposed to the council's current proposal for a sustainable travel zone. However, 34% were in favour of the proposal in its current form, with the highest levels of support coming from younger respondents.

The GCP felt the findings showed public support for an initiative to make buses better and enhance walking and cycling links, only possible with less congestion and more funding.

The consultation showed that 70% of respondents were in favour of the future transport network that would include more buses to more locations, cheaper fares and longer operating times supported by better walking and cycling infrastructure to give people faster, cheaper and more reliable travel alternatives to the car.
