Additional Funding Allocated To Repair Roads In Chester

Construction News Image
Cheshire West and Chester Council has announced additional funding has been allocated to tackle the number of potholes in the borough.

The Council has confirmed £278,000 funding has been awarded to repair and maintain roads.

Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Transport said: "We manage over 2,280 kilometres of carriageway. Roads suffer the worst damage during the late winter and early spring, when the weather can have a massive impact on the number of potholes forming, with heavy rain followed by freezing temperatures.

"Last year we repaired more than 7,000 potholes in the borough. We have fewer outstanding repairs than many other comparable areas of the country, but we are still facing a large challenge. The additional funding, we are now allocating will see up to five additional teams repairing defects across our borough all of which will contribute to making our borough a better place for our residents and visitors."
