Plans to make Alfreton Station in Derbyshire have taken a significant step forward.
A completion date has also been scheduled for the first half of 2024.
In Alfreton station, two new lifts will be installed on the current bridge which will be refurbished. Platform and lighting improvements will be carried out as part of the project.
Progress made to date includes a coal mining report and bridge inspection. Topographical, lighting, cable, ecological and drainage surveys have also been completed.
Gavin Crook, Principal Programme Sponsor, said: "We're moving forward with this project and are encouraged by the bridge inspection and assessment report which shows that the existing bridge can be used as proposed.
"Contractors have been engaged to develop final design and the option chosen will deliver value-for-money and a short construction time."
