Amey has reached an important milestone in its commitment to achieving net zero, gaining verification of its carbon footprint from 2019 to 2021 with the British Standards Institution (BSI).
Achieving verification with the globally recognised ISO 14064-1 (quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals), is an important step for Amey in its Sustainability and Social Value strategy.
Amey has secured external confirmation that its reported footprint is complete, consistent, transparent, and accurate. This means Amey can report with confidence on its pledge to net zero and science-based targets, and better help its customers on their journeys to net zero.
Andy Milner, CEO, Amey, commented: "I am delighted that we have gained verification of our carbon footprint. We recognise how important it is to know that we are taking the right steps forward to reach Net Zero and that we are a credible source of information and resource for our clients. We have a clear Net Zero plan and this is an excellent step for Amey on our journey."
Amey has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and will reach carbon net zero by 2040. Amey has set itself two ambitious targets:
• Achieve Scope 1 and 2 Net Zero by 2035 with a minimum of 80% absolute reduction on a 2019 baseline
• Be fully net zero including Scope 3 by 2040
Later this year Amey will seek external verification and report on its 2022 carbon footprint.
