Countryside has announced that Chelmsford City Council has approved the Development Framework Document for Chelmsford Garden Community, which aims to deliver housing alongside a wealth of employment, green infrastructure and sustainable travel opportunities.
Located in North East Chelmsford, the site will build on the success already achieved at Countryside's Beaulieu residential development, delivering around 10,000 new homes in addition to a wide range of facilities and infrastructure for Chelmsford.
Setting the path for a comprehensively planned, new and sustainable Garden Community, this milestone marks the three-year partnership between the Developer Consortium - led by Countryside and L&Q, Ptarmigan Land and Halley Developments alongside - Chelmsford City Council, Essex County Council and Homes England who have successfully worked and engaged with the wider community.
Countryside and L&Q will shortly be submitting an Outline Planning Application for 3,500 homes plus other key land uses, with the first occupations expected in 2026, whilst delivery will continue over a 15-year build period.
