Dorset Council has announced that road improvements are to take place in South Street, Bridport between Monday 6 and Thursday 9 February.
To enable the replacement of the road surface, South Street will be closed between 9am and 4pm each day.
Residents and businesses have received letters to notify them of the work, and signs will be erected advising motorists of the diversion route. As parking will be unavailable in South Street between 9am and 4pm on these days, businesses are asked to arrange deliveries outside of the hours of the road closure.
Resident'’ permit holders will be able to park free of charge in the South Street or East Street car parks during the works.
The market will go ahead on the Wednesday, but stalls will be relocated to East and West Streets.
Old cast iron gullies that were causing surface flooding have already been replaced in readiness for the resurfacing work.
