East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £275,000 for major improvements to the road and paths in Driffield.

Work on the scheme to upgrade the paths along Victoria Road is expected to start on Tuesday 3 January.

The scheme has been scheduled to last six weeks, with work being carried out from 8am to 4pm Mondays to Fridays, weather permitting.

To minimise disruption to residents along Victoria Road, the works will be split into six phases.

It will involve excavating and reconstructing the existing footpaths, as well as patching, replacing damaged kerbs, crossings and drain covers.

To allow the work to go ahead, a temporary road closure will be needed, with a signed diversion in place during the scheme for through traffic via York Road, West Gate and Mill Street.

Access will be maintained for residents living within the closure area, however on-street parking will not be allowed in certain parts while work is being carried out.

Road improvements are due to follow the path works on Monday 13 February, lasting around three weeks.
