Islington Council has approved plans from Newlon Housing Trust to transform the new Barnsbury Estate, which was built between the 1950s - 1970s.
The transformation involves the complete rebuilding of this part of the estate to provide modern, energy efficient housing, providing a once in a generation opportunity to deal with overcrowding on the Estate.
The plans will also deliver enhanced community facilities and increased green space on the Estate as well as 135 additional homes for social rent providing much needed new affordable housing for the borough. Working with its development partners Mount Anvil the aim is to start work onsite in March 2023.
