The new Lidl at South Oxhey Central has opened its doors for the first time, as the new supermarket on Prestwick Road was officially opened tby the Chair of Three Rivers District Council, Cllr Debbie Morris.
Located within our £218m South Oxhey Central town centre development of 659 new homes and retail spaces, set across two acres of landscaped public spaces, the new, modern store has created around 40 new jobs for the local community and, following the discounters recent wage increase, new starters joining the team will be paid the highest rate of any UK supermarket. The new supermarket features Lidl’s famous in-store bakery, customer toilets with baby changing facilities and ample parking for cars and bicycles.
Daniel King, Managing Director, West London & Thames Valley, Countryside, said: "A thriving retail scene, focused on bringing local shops and trade back to the area, is central to our vision for South Oxhey Central, and so we are delighted that the new Lidl has now opened. Providing a sought-after supermarket offering for local residents and the wider community, Lidl’s excellent range of in-store products and its impressive track record of employee benefits makes it a valuable addition to the growing community here."
Lidl GB's Regional Head of Property, Mike Devine, commented: "It is fantastic that we are able to open our doors and welcome everyone into our new store in South Oxhey. We have received overwhelming support from local residents, and we would like to thank all those who have played a part in delivering this new store. We now look forward to serving our multi-award winning products to everyone within the local community."
