CHQ Architects has appointed Aart Koning as Director of Sustainability.
Aart, who has over 30 years' experience working in the UK for internationally and nationally award-winning practices, joined CHQ as Director in July 2022. He will be heading up the sustainability side of the business working across CHQ and DMWR Architects.
He said: "As a Group we have a strong commitment to sustainability and the protection of the environment, both through the buildings we design and the environmental impact of our business.
"Making sure this is part of our holistic approach to design, we are expanding our architectural design skills with the inhouse expertise in energy and environmental engineering required to ensure that our architectural designs are informed by sustainability from the early design stages, through to the delivery and completion of a project."
With a wealth of experience successfully delivering buildings across seven sectors, DMWR and CHQ know how buildings go together and have gained the skills to combine innovation with practicality. The Group’s mission is to be practically oriented, environmentally minded and continually testing the value of innovation.
Barry Harper-Smith, Managing Director of CHQ and DMWR Architects commented: "Throughout our rich history we have been actively working across a number of sectors and are aware that our design approach must include both mitigation against issues relating to climate change as well as adapting to the impact that climate change will have on our wellbeing.
"I am extremely pleased to be working closely with Aart in his new role within the Group to ensure sustainability is at the forefront as we continue to successfully deliver projects across many sectors of expertise."
