Consultation Launches To Make More Homes Energy Efficient In Derbyshire

Construction News Image
A public consultation has launched for private homeowners across Derbyshire to show what support they need to make their homes more energy efficient.

Together with the county's eight district and borough councils, Derbyshire County Council has launched the consultation to find out what local homeowners think would help them to make home improvements needed to reduce their energy use.

Steps people can take to make their homes more energy efficient range in cost and scale and can include measures such as double or triple glazing, loft insulation, solar panels and switching from a gas boiler to an air or ground source heat pump.

However, while there is an initial cost to installing these measures, they can help to reduce energy bills in the long-term.

Leader of Derbyshire County Council Councillor Barry Lewis said: "We know that people are worried about energy bills and the rising cost of living – and there are some quick and easy things you can do to reduce the amount of energy you use at home.

"But we know that the bigger energy-efficiency projects take time, money and expertise. That's why councils across Derbyshire are coming together to find out what support people need to reduce the amount of energy they use at home – which is better for their pocket and the environment."

The closing date is Friday 20 January 2023.
