KP Acoustics Research Labs, the in-house research and development team that is part of the KP Acoustics Group, has secured accreditation from the Institute of Acoustics (IoA) for its training course on technical report writing.
The course, which provides guidance on elements of good practice relating to acoustic report writing and communication, is the first of its kind to be accredited, putting the company at the forefront in delivering the latest acoustic training.
The accredited course, the IoA Certificate of Proficiency in Technical Report Writing and Preparation (CPTRWP) is aimed at early career acousticians, as well as those who require a refresher in report-writing skills. The course covers the principles of technical report writing focused on acoustics applications, including what needs to be included in a technical report, expressing technical information clearly in a suitable format for the audience, ensuring clear statements of method and presentation of results and conclusions.
The CPTRW extends the portfolio of IoA-accredited courses that the KP Acoustics Research Labs can offer. The IoA accredited certificate courses on offer include training in environmental noise measurement, building acoustics measurement, and workplace noise risk assessment. In addition, the company also offers an IoA diploma, a year-long course for people who want to become a qualified acoustician.
The growth of courses is in part reflective of a wider demand for training from beyond the acoustics industry. KP Acoustics Research Labs also offers a range of other CPD-accredited courses, and it can deliver bespoke courses too. Although many courses are designed for people in specific jobs, like environmental health officers or junior acousticians, other professions like architects are investing in acoustics training.
"We're delighted to be able to expand our offering of IoA-accredited courses. With the report writing course, we now offer five of these courses and are the only centre to be accredited for a report writing course," explained Professor Chris Barlow, Head of Research and Innovation at the KP Acoustics Research Labs.
Since the launch of KP Acoustics Research Labs in 2020, the growth of courses has been significant. "It's an area of the business we are keen to expand," reflected Professor Barlow. "In addition to our CPD courses, we can offer bespoke courses too. This means we can design courses that are specific to an individual’s training needs."
The KP Acoustics Research Labs offers expertise in project management, laboratory testing and technical training courses across a number of key acoustics areas.
