A car park has reopened in Brighton & Hove with new equipment and security measures, making it a brighter, safer and cleaner place to park.

The Chapel Street car park is situated beneath St James' House and has space for 81 small and medium sized vehicles.

The car park was formally a Pay & Display car park but is now a pay on foot car park where customers take a ticket on entry and pay for their parking duration at one of the pay machines when leaving.

The extensive refurbishment work follows concerns from residents about serious anti-social behaviour.

Among the improvements and new equipment installed are:

• Card only pay machines

• Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) with new door readers

• New CCTV equipment for security which is monitored from our Transport Control Centre

• Gates and pedestrian doors for secure access

• New LED lighting

• Repainting.

The entry and exit ramps to the car park have been switched with the entry ramp now on Chapel Street.
