Wates Residential has been selected by Brent Council to develop almost 100 new council homes in Church Road, Church End, Brent.
As part of the regeneration scheme, there will be a new market square and a range of shops at the site where a car park once stood.
Wates Residential will start construction this month, with the homes due for completion by 2025.
The £30 million project is part of the council’s Masterplan for Church End. By 2041, the area will boast 1,300 new homes along with hundreds of new employment and training opportunities and improved infrastructure. This particular project in Church End will enable Wates and Brent Council to invest in the local community through the generation of 16 apprenticeships and a minimum of 20 objective-based work placements for local people.
Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, said: "We have big ambitions for Church End, with residents and local community groups helping us shape a 20 year transformation plan for the area.
"We are beginning this journey by investing in almost 100 much-needed new council homes in the heart of the neighbourhood. Our partnership with Wates will be so important to the delivery of this scheme and we are pleased to be working with them again.
"Alongside this we will be revitalising the high street, creating a safer and greener space for the community.
"This will bring a new wave of opportunities for local people and will mark the start of a brighter future for our local residents."
Helen Bunch, Executive Managing Director, Wates Residential, said: "These new homes in Church End will be safe, warm and comfortable places for local people to thrive in. We believe everyone deserves a great place to live, and an important part of this is the far-reaching economic, social and environmental benefits to local people and businesses that we will be generating along the way.
"Having recently successfully delivered 149 homes for people in Brent at Knowles House and Anansi House, we are delighted to be building on our legacy and bringing our brand of regeneration back to the borough."
