Torus Developments has received planning permission to build 185 apartments and 10 townhouses adjacent to Liverpool's historic Stanley Dock complex.
Its Lightbody Street redevelopment gets the green light from Liverpool City Council.
Investing in excess of £30 million into the development, Torus will completely transform the vacant former industrial site on Lightbody Street and bring a mix of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, townhouses and commercial space to the iconic location, at the start of the Leeds to Liverpool canal. All homes built will be available for Rent to Buy.
Committed to increasing access to genuinely affordable housing options in key locations across the city, Torus will breathe new life into the derelict site and help create a community that not only recognises, but celebrates, Liverpool’s maritime heritage through incorporating a number of pedestrian links alongside the north edge of the listed Stanley Flight Canal Locks.
Managing Director of Torus Developments, Chris Bowen said: "We're incredibly excited to receive planning for the Lightbody Street scheme and create homes that will further add to the unique history and landscape of the city.
"This development will completely transform the area and help create a thriving community everyone can enjoy – from residents to local businesses and even tourists – Lightbody will have an incredibly positive impact on the city at large."
Works at Lightbody Street are due to start in Spring 2022.
