Severn Trent Water has started work to repair a collapsed sewer pipe on in Shrewsbury.
The work on Longden Road is expected work to be completed by Friday, 05 November.
The pipe is situated underneath the middle of the road, adjacent to the Kingsland Road junction.
Due to the location of the sewer an urgent temporary road closure will be required to undertake a permanent repair.
Due to the recent heavy rain, sewage has seeped on to the road, meaning the road has been closed today, 01 November.
Severn Trent operatives are currently using tankers to relieve the system on a daily basis to prevent the road from flooding.
Whilst the road is closed traffic will be diverted via a signed diversion route and access will be maintained to properties and businesses at all times.
