J Tomlinson is continuing to work on a a 66-bed care home development in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Set to be complete in late 2022, the new £6m care home will be constructed in partnership with Barchester Healthcare and will provide nursing care for elderly, frail, and dementia residents.
Works to be undertaken by J Tomlinson include construction of the 3-storey care facility, which will be known as Elgar Court Care Home, as well as creation of garden landscaping and parking for 27 vehicles. The ground floor will consist of the main kitchen, laundry room, plant room, staff offices, hairdressers, a large lounge and 18 bedrooms. The first floor requires a separate specification to the ground floor and second floor as this will be specifically dedicated to accommodating dementia care residents. This specialised floor will contain 27 bedrooms, two lounge areas and a large dining area.
J Tomlinson has extensive experience in delivering construction and refurbishment projects that involve meeting specialist and complex requirements of care homes and extra care facilities. This marks the latest West Midlands-based extra care building project delivered by J Tomlinson, with other schemes completed in the region including construction of Inspire Neurocare Worcester – a purpose-built facility providing care and rehabilitation for adults with neurological conditions and brain injuries – as well as the transformation of the former Nethercrest Residential Home (Dudley) into a state-of-the-art living complex containing 24 assisted living properties.
Tony Shenton, Managing Director of J Tomlinson’s care division, commented: "We're excited to be working with Barchester Healthcare on the creation of their newest care home. Working in the centre of a popular residential estate with nearby industrial units, our core focus will revolve around minimising disruption to local residents whilst working closely with our client to deliver a high-quality facility that facilitates the provision of first-class, resident-centric care."
