GreCon Limited makes people and places safer and enables the 'smart factory' as the leading provider of innovative industrial fire prevention and process measurement solutions.
GreCon is located just outside of Newcastle upon Tyne and is a member of the Fagus-GreCon Group.
With a wealth of experience as a global market leader, GreCon demonstrates a strong understanding of customer needs and provides turnkey solutions for a wide variety of industries including wood manufacturing, recycling, biomass, pharmaceutical, food, hygiene and more.
GreCon's Managing Director Jonathan Hamill said: "The adage, 'prevention is better than cure' rings true. GreCon believes that early detection of ignition sources is critically important. Once a fire starts, the results can be catastrophic. When companies are not aware of GreCon's technologies, they rely on more conventional fire protection systems, which do not always provide the best defence.
"Customers are particularly interested in the recently introduced DLD 1/9, which is a highly sensitive spark, ember and hot particle detector for protection against fire and explosion in industrial processes. Intelligent Detection Technology IDT® provides optimal detection performance for all ignition sources in any environment and enables the detector to distinguish between dangerous sparks and harmless ambient light."
Recycling is also a big sector for Grecon and the company has a long-standing partnership with RiverRidge, Northern Ireland's largest integrated waste management company.
The recycling process carries inherent risks from fire. GreCon's comprehensive range of highly sensitive detectors can detect a range of ignition sources such as sparks, hot and glowing particles, and can deal with the challenges posed by a range of temperature and ambient lighting conditions.
RiverRidge made a significant investment in a fluid bed dryer and associated extraction system to process refuse-derived fuel and were keen to find a dependable fire prevention solution to protect this investment.
Mr Hamill continued: "Working in partnership we designed a comprehensive 16-zone fire prevention solution to protect the fluid bed dryer, filters and extraction system. A 3-week installation project followed and the system was then commissioned."
RiverRidge’s Corporate Operations Director Cecil McBurney commented: "We have been reassured by GreCon’s technology and service. We have a robust solution in place, protecting our operations. The ability to visualise the system remotely has also helped us stay connected from our control room and monitor events in real-time."
