Plans to develop 36 new council apartments in Clifton have been given the green light.
Nottingham City Homes (NCH) submitted a planning application to build the council apartments on the site of the former Southchurch garages, off Hamilton Court.
The flats will be owned by Nottingham City Council and managed on their behalf by NCH.
NCH has completed the tender process and are due to appoint a contractor imminently. The plan is to be on site in early 2021, with the properties complete in 2022. Halsall Lloyd Partnership Architects have designed the site.
Nick Murphy, the Chief Executive of NCH, said: "There is significant demand for council housing in Nottingham and that demand is increasing. We are working with the council to create these apartments on a previously unused site to try and meet some of this demand. We will create safe, modern and affordable homes for local people, somewhere that residents can be prud to live."
