Interserve has scooped a contract worth over £1 million to refurbish a property on Sheffield Colleges' Olive Grove Campus.
Interserve will reconfigure the existing joinery and decorating building to create a new Joinery, Plumbing and Robotics building through a full refurbishment and the extension of a mezzanine floor to create a new first-floor level within the building to accommodate the college's robotics facility, which is due to be complete in September.
The work, to be delivered by Interserve Construction, follows a recent £7 million investment by the college in world-class workshops similar to those found in major engineering companies to support the students’ work-based learning.
Olive Grove houses the colleges’ automotive and motor vehicle suites, plumbing workshops and engineering classrooms.
The latest £1.4m contract win follows Interserve Construction’s success in being awarded a £4m contract to refurbish the former SciTech Centre at Barnsley College to create a new Digital Innovation Hub.
The new Digital Innovation Hub at Barnsley will have a special focus on digital engineering and construction and the new facility will incorporate several high-spec technology rooms used for gaming, rendering and 3D printing.
Don Stewart, Business Development Director, Interserve Construction, said: "Our work with Sheffield and Barnsley Colleges further underscores our strong track record in the further education sector where we continue to deliver projects that improve the students' learning environment and we look forward to working with Sheffield College to deliver this new facility."
