Developers have celebrated the beginning of construction on a project at the new UCL East campus with a ground-breaking ceremony.
Main contractor VINCI Construction UK held an event at the site of the new multi-use research and residential centre at Pool Street West. Over 50 people turned out, comprising client stakeholders and UCL Estates, LLDC, Turner & Townsend, AECOM, Deloitte, LDS, Hilson Moran, AKTII, Sheppard Robson, Buro Happold and Elementa.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chris Hamer, Managing Director VINCI Construction UK Building Division, said: "Thanks to our design partners, the design work is well progressed, and it won't be long before we start to see the main concrete frame rise above the hoarding.
"In an age where Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility is at the fore, it is good that we have a close working relationship to work together and minimise any disruptions.
"At VINCI Construction UK, we are absolutely delighted to be working with UCL on this prestigious project and hope that our working relationship can extend for many years to come."
