The Ministry of Justice has awarded a £632 million contract to an Amey joint venture.

The multi-million pound deal will see GEOAmey provide Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) for 'The North' spanning a 10-year period commencing August 2020.

Under the contract, GEOAmey will transport approximately 250,000 people across the criminal justice system in Wales, the Midlands and the North of England each year. More than 1,400 people will be employed across the contract at 10 vehicle bases and 110 courts, carrying out transfers between prisons and managing court custody suites and dock areas.

GEOAmey already has a well-established track record as a leading provider of court custody and prisoner escort services in England and Wales, having closely worked with the Ministry of Justice on PECS since 2011. Amey also brings a wealth of experience in delivering secure infrastructure services across the UK for clients such as MoD and HMPPS.
