Former WYG boss Douglas McCormick has joined Gleeds as its new Executive Chair of the UK.
Douglas returns to the international property and construction consultancy for the first time in over 20 years, when he served as a member of the management team.
Gleeds is looking to expand its presence in a variety of sectors and hopes to take advantage of the new government's commitment to invest in infrastructure projects where it already has a strong track record.
"This is such an exciting time," said Graham Harle, Gleeds Chief Executive Officer. "The fact that we can attract someone of Douglas's expertise and experience shows how far we have developed as an organisation. We are operating a twin track approach to consolidating and growing business in the UK whilst expanding abroad. Douglas will play a vital role in harnessing opportunities and expanding our business.
"It is great to see Douglas return to the fold at Gleeds. It's a new decade with myriad opportunities unfolding before us and we want to ensure that we are continuing to develop our position as the leading independent UK consultancy, able to best take advantage of new possibilities and continue to grow."
Commenting on his appointment, Douglas added: "I am delighted to be returning to my professional home at Gleeds. When I was last associated with the business some 20 years ago it was in a different stage of its development and I am excited to have re-joined to help the management team take the UK organisation to the next level."
As part of a realignment of corporate objectives some of the current management team are also moving to new roles developing Gleeds' position in the public sector.
