Leading tool and equipment hire company A-Plant has been recognised for its commitment to energy efficiency and health and safety with two new ISO certifications.
The UK's National Standards Body (NSB), BSI awarded the firm ISO 50001 & ISO 45001.
ISO 50001:2018 is the new energy standards certification, which recently transitioned from ISO 50001:2011. It will support A-Plant's move towards a greener and more environmental future. The new ISO framework will manage and reduce energy use and costs overall. It also provides an opportunity for A-Plant to increase sustainability management across the organisation by adopting and implementing the systematic processes, required to achieve the standard.
The ISO 45001:2018 Health and Safety standard replaces OHSAS 18001:2007. The new framework has an emphasis on leadership and objectives measurement, risk management, communication and awareness and a reduction in prescriptive requirements. The new standard increases the prominence of OH&S management in all of A-Plant's strategic planning processes.
Commenting on the new achievements, Chris Ryan, Head of Performance Standards at A-Plant said: "Everyone at A-Plant has worked incredibly hard
and we are proud to have achieved the new certifications of ISO 50001 and ISO 45001, which is a result of a collaborative journey in partnership with BSI, since December 2018.
"We are committed to achieving industry best practice in energy efficiency, so that we can reduce our overall environmental impact. By adopting ISO 50001 systematic approach we can drive efficiency improvements internally, in energy usage and efficiency and therefore identify cost effective energy saving opportunities, that will benefit our customers in the long-term.
"Health and Safety is at the forefront of everything we do, ISO 45001 will support us in striving to build a better culture where QEHSS underpins the values of every person in achieving an incident and injury free environment for our employees, partners and customers."
