A new state-of-the-art sports hall has been built at Tile Cross Academy in Birmingham.
National contractor Morgan Sindall Construction delivered the £7 million project, which included the provision of two floodlit 3G multi-use games area pitches. The firm also re-clad the school's existing science block and refurbished its interior.
These works have boosted the secondary school's facilities for its 600 pupils.
Acivico worked alongside the main contractor on the project through the Constructing West Midlands (CWM) framework.
The project team began work on the scheme in July 2018 and completed the programme five weeks ahead of schedule.
Dave Kelly, CWM Framework Manager at Morgan Sindall Construction, said: "Providing pupils with modern facilities to pursue sports and active lifestyles has a very clear positive impact on educational attainment. It’s no surprise that forward-thinking schools across the Midlands are prioritising this kind of investment.
"This has been a great project to deliver and the Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust's decision to procure the scheme through the CWM framework has streamlined the whole process, enabling us to complete the work well ahead of schedule."
Chris Hall, Interim Deputy CEO at Acivico, added: "This project is part of the wider transformation of the Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust. We are delighted Morgan Sindall Construction managed to handover the project ahead of programme and allow the students early access to these fantastic sports and education facilities. Investment in education and providing facilities for youngsters fit for the 21st century and beyond, is vitally important to the youngsters within the area."
