A series of refurbishment work has commenced at St Joan of Arc Catholic School in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.
The multi-million pound programme of works will see the institution's science facilities upgraded.
The new look science teaching block will include 10 new teaching labs, two preparation rooms as well as a mini goods in lift, used for the safe transportation of chemicals. This will be complete in time for the start of the 2020 school year.
Further works involve external cladding, roof, roofing windows and doors installed. The main school hall will also benefit from upgrades.
During the project, pupils will be taught in a specially constructed temporary three storey science block that will be transported in sections and assembled on site at the school.
Jonathan Payne, managing director for Kier Regional Building Thames Valley said: "We are proud to work with the team at St Joan of Arc Catholic School to carry out the improvements to their science facilities. We hope that the new and improved teaching labs help the school mould the next generation of scientists.
